What is Thai Yoga Massage?
Thai Yoga massage is a style of massage using a mat on the floor where the client remains fully dressed in comfortable, loose fitting clothes (without buttons, or zippers). The stretchier the threads the better, because Rachael will be working with the fullest range of motion the client’s joints can easily tolerate.
Whole body acupressure (including the abdomen when appropriate), percussion, gentle compression over arteries (when appropriate), resisted stretches, traction, and rocking are other techniques you may experience during a mat massage.
During most of the session Rachael will use her hands, but will also use her feet (with clean socks), knees, or elbows.
Mat massage will be modified for pregnant clients by slightly changing the positioning, and by omitting compression over arteries, abdominal massage, and acupressure points that are contraindicated until after the baby is born.
Mat massage can be applied with vigorous, gentle, or a combination of pressures and intensities that are adjusted to perfectly suit each individual client’s needs.
